Joe Autera, President and CEO, TSVDI

Posted by securitydriver - June 27, 2011 - Bios

In 2003 Joe Autera and Larry Side launched Tony Scotti’s Vehicle Dynamics Institute (TSVDI). Joe used his 20 years of experience planning, directing and participating in security operations in high risk locales and combined it with his knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics to create TSVDI. Doing so Joe took on the task on carrying on the legacy of the firm’s name sake Tony Scotti, a legacy that is starting its 5th decade. He is now widely recognized as Tony Scotti’s protégé.

Joe has taken his knowledge of vehicle dynamics and combined it with his real world experience in, planning and managing protective security operations around the world to design and develop innovative scenario based exercises that are used in TSVDI’s training programs.

Although Joe is recognized for his innovative security driving programs – he has been a pioneer in the use of Surveillance Detection both as a practitioner and an educator. Before starting TSVDI he had hands on experience directing and participating in security operations that focused on detecting and interdicting a broad range of threats in moderate and high risk locales. He supplied these services for multi-national corporations as well as non-governmental organizations around the world.

He also brings extensive management and business development experience to TSVDI, having previously served as the Director of Security and later, Director of Operations for a multi-national technology concern and, more recently, as the Vice President of Global Security Services for one of the world’s leading providers of crisis and risk management services to the international business community.

Mr. Autera has authored articles on the subjects of driver training, threat recognition and surveillance detection which has been featured in some of the security industries most highly regarded publications including Security Management Magazine, the FBI National Academy Associate, Intersec and the Journal of Counterterrorism and Homeland Security. The articles appear on the TSVDI and SDC web sites.

He is a highly sought after speaker, he has been invited to speak at both the Protective Security Conference, the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) 50th Annual Seminar and Exhibition, and the International Association of Counterterrorism and Security Professionals (IACSP) Terrorism Trends and Forecasts Symposium.
