The International Security Driver Association (ISDA) has created a series of online Courses and Workshops. The Courses and Workshops are free to the ISDA Membership.
The workshops are online videos that cover a specific topic. Courses are more extended online programs that cover in-depth issues and include several topics.
Both the workshops and online courses supply the members with downloadable material to be used as a reference.
Our Online training provides maximum benefits for minimum resources. It is intensive, thorough, and specifically tailored to meet the needs of the Professional Security Driver and Secure Transportation Professional. Our members are able to build skills and professional knowledge whenever it’s most convenient.
The First Workshop
The first Workshop is the Science of Time and Distance. Others will cover Marketing, Secure Transportation, Vehicle Dynamics, Armored and Executive Vehicles, Vehicle Technology, and Surveillance Detection.
So let’s talk about the elephant in the room or, in this case, the elephant in the Workshop. When we hear the word Science, we think of math – when we think of math, there is apprehension. The problem with math is that you very seldom apply it to anything practical. Simple math is just that – simple.
Most people shy away from using Science, the laws of physics, and math as training tools. For most security drivers, their only exposure to Science and math is what they were taught in high school. With all due respect to high schools, the subject is mired in books and seems to have no practical value.
But what if we could apply simple math to something you do every day and raise your level of professionalism with that understanding of math?
Five decades of conducting Science and math-based training tell us that we can guarantee that once the Science of Driving and the math associated with it are explained in English versus engineer talk and the math is turned into practical scenarios that the security driver encounters every day – on and off the job. It is amazing how all that math becomes easy to use and makes sense.
Why do you need to understand the Science of Secure Transportation and the math that drives it?
Security Driving is a decision-making process that requires the driver to manage time and distance. Anything that slows that process down can and often does become an emergency.
Simple – if you can understand why an event happens, accident or vehicle violence, it assists you in preventing that event from happening. In reality, this Science is not something that is nice to know; for the above average Security Driver – it is must-have knowledge. History has shown that in the event of an accident-producing scenario or vehicle violence, this knowledge is the difference between success and failure.
