Miscellaneous Ramblings of an Old Man Part Four

This all started a year and a half ago, as a platform to express my heightened sense of sarcasm (it happens when you get old). The Ramblings have taken on a life of their own, receiving many views and comments. Some of the comments have provoked lively discussions. This is the fourth set of ramblings.

My Ramblings

A quote from Theoretical Physicists Steve Hawkings – The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance it is the illusion of knowledge – sounds like some training programs I have witnessed

Have you noticed that when a conversation starts with- “with all due respect” it tends to go downhill from there?

I’m curious – when is old enough to know better supposed to kick in – I don’t think I’m there yet.

An observation – Ever notice that people who wear running suits look like they never run

If time is of the essence – I am running out of essence

Ok I’m into computers – Blogs – iPhones – eBooks so I am told that I have a young mind – but I’m here to tell you that a young mind in a 73 year old body still sucks

PLEASE!!! If you have been to only one training program could you stop saying it’s the best training program you have ever been too – you have only been to one.

Again PLEASE!!! Don’t ask me what I think unless you want to know what I think – don’t ask for advice if you are not ready to hear the phrase “Work your ass off” – to paraphrase VDI’s Joe Autera – the secret to success is that there is no secret

You have seen those ads on TV, if you use this deodorant you will have to fight off the ladies; how different is that from – if you attend a seven day bodyguard school you will be a bodyguard and expect to work – at least with the deodorant you smell good

I have heard from some that say Social Media is not an effective marketing tool – if the market does not want what you are selling – then you are correct social media marketing does not work – but here’s a clue – the problem is not the social media

On Blogs – Websites – Brochures I see the VDI information regurgitated; in one case a “gentleman” in his mid-40’s telling the world that his training has 35 years of history – do the math – I’m told that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery – NO IT ISN’T – ITS THIEVERY

Ever been in an armored vehicle, driving through some arm pit section of a city in the latest hell hole country, and you are thinking that this vehicle stops some pretty impressive rounds, how come it can’t keep out the smell of the open sewers

I finished Tom Clancy’s new book “Threat Vector”, and came to the conclusion that we need Jack Ryan as president

Speaking of politics – It would be a novelty to have this country’s fiscal policy managed by someone who has been compelled to earn a living.

    Tony,

Excellent ramblings, some might also say common sense, wisdom, and truth. So I say thanks for the chuckle, and ramblings.

  3. Steven Walker says:

When I gain a few more years i guess I’ll be able to agree or not, for now I’ll just view it as wisdom. Too funny.
